Programme Details

The Certificate in the Humanities is a yearlong, 24-credit programme with specialisations in Liberal Arts and Caribbean Studies. You will be exposed to a variety of topics and experts within the Faculty of Humanities and Education.

Programme Description

Earn a comprehensive understanding of the Humanities by exploring areas such as History, Literature, Linguistics, Cybertechnology, Social Studies and the Creative and Festival Arts – subjects you will meet in our BA degree programmes.. Engage in in-depth study and analysis of areas within these subjects in relation to regional development.

At least five (5) OLevel/CSEC passes, including Mathematics, English Language and one (1) Humanities subject

Mature applicants must:

  • be over 21 years,
  • possess three (3) OLevel/CSEC passes including a Humanities subject
  • have relevant work experience or professional development certificates


Degree Eligibility

Students who have successfully completed this Certificate with a B average or above will be eligible for admission (once all other admission requirements are met) into the Bachelor of Arts degree programmes in:



  • Communications
  • Film
  • Literature
  • History
  • Linguistics
  • English Language
  • The Creative and Festival Arts


These students will not be required to have passes at the CAPE level.
